Mark the day, because today is the day (well, actually yesterday, as I was distracted in the middle of posting this) that I found that my husband and my father are related – 10th cousins! You can see just how in the image below. Cruz Jr is my husband’s father and Chester is my grandfather. So my hubby and dad are 10th cousins, extending from Étienne Hébert.
Mr. Hébert was born about 1630 in France and came to Nova Scotia in his early years. It is there, in Port Royal, that he married a young lady named Marie Gaudet. Together they had 10 children, and of them, Emmanuel and Catherine are who our lines descend from.
There are more connections, some a bit more indirect. Étienne’s other son, Antione, married Jeanne Corporon, who is a daughter of Jean and Francoise (Savoie) Corporon. There is also a connection through the Trahan’s. And I am almost certain there would be a connection through Thibodeau if I could pin point my husband’s line.
So as you can see, there’s a lot of work ahead for me in 2021!
